Joe Barron is a reporter, columnist and editor at Montgomery Newspapers in Fort Washington, Pa., where he also writes articles on the classical music scene in suburban Philadelphia for Ticket, the newspapers’ entertainment insert.
He first encountered Elliott Carter’s music in the 1970s and has followed the composer’s career closely ever since, attending many festivals and premiere performances and amassing a large collection of recordings and printed material. He has studied piano and theory both privately and at Settlement Music School, Philadelphia, and is a largely self-taught recorder player.
His blog, Liberated Dissonance, deals primarily with musical matters.
